SAM Collection

The first cocktail glass collection created by an Italian bartender for an Italian brand.

Born from the collaboration between Zafferano, Italian brand renowned for its lighting and table glassware, and Samuele Ambrosi, a leading professional in the mixology industry, SAM Collection is a line of glasses that combines Italian style and quality.

Excellent design dresses the cocktail

Resulting from a shared vision and careful research on form, function, and technology, SAM Collection is designed for both professional bartenders and cocktail enthusiasts seeking to elevate their drinking experience at home.

The collection includes five models — Old Fashioned Tumbler, Collins Highball, Fizz Glass, Coupette Martini, and Nick & Nora — mouth-blown and handcrafted from superior crystal glass. This material ensures outstanding lightness, clarity, and durability: the glasses are dishwasher safe and suitable for heavy use, typical in professional settings.

Throughout the one-year design process, Samuele Ambrosi poured his bartending expertise into a collection that marries Italian aesthetics with functional needs. Each glass is crafted to heighten the full sensory experience of the cocktail: lines, proportions, thicknesses, and weights are meticulously studied to enhance both appearance and usability.

“A glass is not just a container — it’s the tailored suit of every cocktail. It must enhance its beauty, aroma, flavor, and even sound,”

says Ambrosi. This multisensory approach — a hallmark of Italian design — also embraces tactile perception, through well-balanced, lightweight glasses, and acoustic perception, such as the clinking of ice, to create a truly immersive cocktail experience.

Federico de Majo, founder and President of Zafferano, adds:

“SAM Collection was conceived to make every moment of conviviality more enjoyable and engaging. It aligns with the brand’s purpose — We bring joy into everyday life — bringing Italian style and quality into living and hospitality spaces.”

A signature detail that tells a story

The base of each glass is engraved with a decoration: a tribute to citrus fruits, essential ingredients in mixology and symbols of professional growth. “Citrus fruits have always been at the heart of cocktail history,” explains Ambrosi. “Once valued for their medicinal properties, they embody the energy of the sun and are emblematic of the Mediterranean soul of Italy. The radial pattern also evokes a wheel, representing the evolution of the profession — from novice to expert.

A direct response to market trends

Federico de Majo adds: “SAM Collection stands out in the premium segment, responding to two growing trends: the increasing interest in high-quality cocktails and the desire to recreate high-end mixology experiences at home. This collection is therefore intended for both the Ho.Re.Ca. channel and demanding end consumers.” Ambrosi adds: “In a time when the drinking experience is becoming more refined, we wanted to design a collection that enhances every cocktail, transforming each sip into a special moment.”
