A new partnership for the exclusive production of artistic ceramics by Civita Castellana

In Civita Castellana, in the province of Viterbo, the secrets of the trade have been handed down for centuries in artisan workshops. This village on the slopes of Mount Soratte, in the Upper Lazio area, is built on an outcrop of tuff: the clays of this area, rich in lime, iron and aluminium silicates, have allowed the art of ceramics to develop since the 10th century BC.

In its pursuit of ever-new production techniques, in Civita Castellana Zafferano has discovered the secrets of this craft, which they have successfully adapted to meet contemporary needs and trends while appreciating the importance of simple small gestures.
A similar and shared approach, of applying ancient artisan techniques to contemporary production, without ever losing sight of the beauty and simplicity that makes an object unique and timeless, has encouraged Federico de Majo to finalise a partnership with one of the last historic companies in this district.

Thanks to the acquisition of a percentage of shares in this company, from this year onwards Zafferano will be able to rely on the exclusive production of ceramic products, based on its own design. New collections include DalmataMannaggia li pescetti and …many other new products, already in the pipeline, which will be presented at the HOST trade fair in October.
Civita Castellana is an example of skilled craftsmanship that needs to be supported; otherwise it is likely to disappear.
