BINV1955: the new Zafferano brand for Murano glass collections

A story that starts from Murano, and returns to Murano.
BINV1955 (Born in Venice 1955) is the new Zafferano brand designed to bring together the collections exclusively in Murano glass. A project already in the pipeline for some time, which now finds expression in the creation of this brand which in the spring of 2018 will also have its own dedicated catalog.
The idea stems from Federico de Majo’s desire to return to the Venetian culture of art glass, the starting point of his professional activity which began in the furnace in Murano when, still a boy, he began to follow the family factory. It is precisely this direct experience, made alongside the glass masters who have marked the history of Murano glass processing, to have started the entrepreneurial path first in lighting, then in the world of tasting and table furnishing with Saffron, and then back again to lighting with AiLati and Zafferano Bespoke Glass Lighting.
Now a circle is closed and we return to Venice, with a brand dedicated exclusively to Murano glass products, a high quality made in Italy production, conveying and developing through it also the knowledge of what glass represents on a cultural level. .
From this desire to resume activity in Murano, the choice to establish new relationships with the most significant realities of the lagoon city was born, and therefore the three-year agreement as a supporting member of the La Fenice Theater Foundation and participation in the exhibition ” Luxus ”in progress at the Venice Pavilion, on the occasion of the 57th International Art Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia, until November 26, 2017.
BINV1955 will include glasses, goblets, bottles and decanters, in colored and transparent glass, all mouth blown and handmade, certified in Murano glass. Some models will be produced exclusively in limited editions. Workings and colors will be those classic of Murano glass but with contemporary design, designed for daily use in the catering, hospitality and convivial moments. The first prototypes will be presented at HOMI in September and at Host in October.
