Zafferano is among the companies designated to represent the great tradition of craftsmanship of Venetian art at “Luxus”, exhibition at Padiglione Venezia during the 57th International Art Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia, until November 26th 2017.

The Zafferano products selected to decorate the table on show include wine-tasting glasses in fine crystal glass in the Ultralight and Esperienze collections, tumblers of the series binv1955 in handcrafted Murano glass, handcrafted mouth-blown tumblers in coloured and clear glass in the BiliaGessato, Perle collections, and handcrafted Murano glass Decanters with decorated bases.

“Taking part in this exhibition at Padiglione Venezia – states Federico de Majo, CEO of Zafferano – is an opportunity that perfectly suits the path Zafferano is taking. This path stems from my experience at a furnace on the island of Murano, when I started overseeing our family’s factory. I then left the island to face new challenges, however, glass has always been my first love. And so has Venice. Zafferano returns to the lagoon city on two occasions, since the company has also been a Supporting Member of the Fondazione Teatro La Fenice since last January. I feel that the Venice International Art Exhibition venue is akin to Zafferano due to the innovative spirit that drives our research and to the traditional and artistic techniques that blend with a modern twist and contemporary design in our products. I can feel a little of my own history at Padiglione Venezia. As a Venetian, I can express my experience in the art of glassmaking through the objects exhibited. It is a real opportunity to draw attention to the cultural importance of glass.”

“The theme of the Venice Pavilion, the luxury, is told through the great tradition of craftsmanship of Venetian art – explains professor Stefano Zecchi, curator of the event – of which the Pavilion, since 1932 and for many years, was the most prestigious showcase.
A path that intertwine shapes, symbols, objects of the past resumed the search for Venetian companies that are excellence in producing handmade art objects in glass, mosaic, fabric, porcelain, footwear. In a atélier, are collected raw materials that then the genius of the craftsman’s hands transforms it into works of art. The visitor is guided along a path that allows you to understand how matter is formed from the object of art.
The Venice Pavilion brings to life the luxury as an experience of a high beauty and precious that only
the true aesthetic education allows you to appreciate, which the path of the exhibition of the Pavilion knows how to communicate.”
